It's FOSS article about CoMaps
CoMaps article: comaps.app/news/2025-07-04/ITS
It's FOSS article: news.itsfoss.com/comaps-launch

“CoMaps, you can download entire regions before you begin a trip for easy navigation in places without an internet connection or mobile network connectivity.”
“The user interface is clean and intuitive. You won’t need a manual to figure it out."
"Moreover, privacy is baked into the app."
"The map style itself is another highlight; it feels fresh, modern, and thoughtfully designed"

P.S. I like it too. It's easy to use, reliable enough, and I don't need to fear that “someone” is keeping its eyes on me :tony_happy:

The transhuman in me goes "YESS!!! EXTRA SENSES!", but it's also great for Blind people, let's hope Capitalism doesn't fuck them over as it usually does with the Disabled and new technologies.

Imagine having sight again, then the company who operates your robot eye goes bust and you are blind again.

This is also why transhumanist body modification will NOT happen under Capitalism, you would never own the new parts in your body

Quote of the day, 29 April: Brother Lawrence

What consoles me in this life is that I see God by faith. And I see him in such a way that I can sometimes say, “I no longer believe, I see, for I experience what faith teaches.” With this assurance, and by this practice of faith, I will live and die with him.

Brother Lawrence of the Resurrection, O.C.D.

Where in my life is God inviting me to trust Him so deeply that I begin to “see” by faith?

Minister for Equalities Kaukab Stewart has launched a pilot scheme providing free #rail travel for companions of blind and partially sighted individuals on all #ScotRail journeys across #Scotland, starting 1 April 2025. Announced at #Anniesland Station in Glasgow, the initiative allows those with an eye +1 National Entitlement Card to travel with a companion at no extra cost, aiming to enhance #accessibility and affordability for visually impaired passengers. Running for one year, the scheme aligns with existing concessionary travel policies for #buses and ferries in Scotland. Ms Stewart highlighted its importance for community access, education, and employment, while Craig Spalding, Chief Executive of #Sight Scotland, noted the significant achievement of the Fair Rail Campaign, emphasising the positive impact on independence and community connection for visually impaired individuals.

The #windows can be seen on the #GibraltarRock #cable-car #gondola. #ZoomedOut the #incline of the #misty #slope can be seen. #Zoom further away and the cabin can't be seen but it is still there.

I love #experiementing with my #Olympus #OpticalZoom but the #camera needs #servicing & I don't know where to trust. Suggestions?

With the average person’s screen time now nearly seven hours a day, and much of that time spent indoors, our overreliance on #sight and #sound has only intensified.

But given that humans are animals with five (or arguably many more) #senses, are we 🌟neglecting our other faculties, 🌟and what is it doing to us?
