Hebrew by Inbal<p>Pain and Joy, Side by Side 💔🤍</p><p>There’s no way to process this. The Bibas children, a baby and a young child, were brutally murdered by H@m@s terr0r!sts. Their mother is still missing, and we fear the worst. An elderly man, who dedicated his life to peace and helping Palestinians, was t0rtured to death.</p><p>And yet, tomorrow, six hostages will return home.</p><p>This impossible emotional whiplash is something Israelis and Jews know too well—grief and relief, heartbreak and hope, side by side.</p><p>It never gets easier, but we keep going. We grieve, we fight, we celebrate. Because that’s what it means to be Israeli. Miriam HitchcockThis week's <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/challah?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#challah</a> is a little different. I tried out a vegan challah recipe from Nosh: Plant Forward Recipes Celebrating Modern Jewish Cuisine by Micah Siva. I cheated and used honey for the "egg wash" instead of maple syrup though. I figure it may be for the best to find alternatives to eggs for now. It certainly looks like challah, although it's not as shiny as an egg wash would be.
