Businesses that unlawfully prohibit customers with #serviceAnimals need to be named and shamed, because they clearly believe they don't have to abide by the law, and there won't be any consequences for this #discrimination. We should bring the consequences to their front door. If you're one of these businesses, understand that the law is clear, and you have no right to prevent these animals from entering your premises. First comes public shame, next come the lawsuits.

@juliewebgirl Oh fine.

Seriously everyone, Do No Approach a Service Animal! And for fuck's sake don't do it without speaking to it's handler. Really.

Chihuahua to Temple Dog...no matter how adoring those eyes, if you are not friends with that dog's Human, you
and that dog are Not friends.

Other fun facts:
1. If a Great Dane growls at you? Huh.
2. Don't make them smother you with Dane Lipps, and slobber. Bad way to go.

Just as with our national health care provider crisis, we need to pay attention to this looming threat to the health of 75 million pets by 2030: veterinarypracticenews.com/75- Disabled and elderly people are limited to transportation within city limits, and so have no opportunity to even try to save their pets, #EmotionalSupportAnimals, and #ServiceAnimals. This is affecting many already.

@sizlingh And absolutely NEVER pet a service animal without asking. It's like 10x as bad as touching a pet (which is bad). These animals are working!

But if you know somebody who trains service animals (I used to know someone), please ask and if they say OK (they probably will) do it. Service animals in training need to learn to deal with strangers. But you absolutely need to ask first. No exceptions.

One thing I have learned from having a guide dog is how many human characteristics all dogs really have! They have personalities, and just like humans, they are all different. They have likes and dislikes, they have feelings like happy, sad, mad, confused, etc. They have the ability to learn and apply what they have learned when necessary, take the next left, find the steps and door, go around but you determine the best and safest way. And just like humans, some are smarter than others, some are more patient. But one thing they will always be better at than humans, is commitment and loyalty, no matter what, for better or worse, they will always remain by your side. If there is not already, I think there should be a Service Animal Day on the calendar to recognize their devotion to the great service that they supply to so many people around the world! #GuideDogs #ServiceAnimals #ServiceAnimalDay
