I finally finished the main story arc of #AssassinsCreedShadows and all the (currently available) side quests at a whopping 124 hours of gameplay. Wow this game is HUGE.

It’s classic modern (is that a contradiction?) Assassin’s Creed game, in an open world that’s large but not super huge. The visuals and environmental effects are phenomenal. I still enjoy the rendition of wind blowing and scenery changes over the seasons.

The game mechanics are refined, but not revolutionary. Being able to switch between two characters with very different styles (Naoe: stealthy, light, agile, quiet; Yasuke: tank, heavy, clumsy, direct) was a great deal of fun. I ended up playing as Naoe more than Yasuke because I like the stealthy aspects of AC, but once I managed to level up Yasuke’s archery skills, he became much more playable.

Anyway, great writing, great gameplay, and just a relaxing and consistently entertaining game overall, like an AC game should be.
