Still the best storage expansion 😄
I have replaced the IDE with a SATA controller so it can use any modern hard drive. At an average size of 2 to 4,5 GB per game you could technically store ROMs of all PS2 games in existence directly on the console.

I have the fat and two slims (NA,EU) 🤷‍♂️ connected to the NAS via SMB and play the games directly via network and FMCB to conserve my actual discs (scratched disks are a thing with Slim PS2's).

A new third-party adapter is about £26 or 30 EUR and you can use most SATA hard drives up to 2TB. The original Sony adapter is a bit harder to find these days.

I'd start with FFX or Dragon Quest VIII, both should be widely available and inexpensive. The best experience of Final Fantasy XII is the The Zodiac Age remaster on modern platforms.

So, I have been rather quiet as of late, mostly due to home stuff, sorting out a bedroom and lots of old things, breaking down a wardrobe, planting new plants, etc.

But, I have also been plugging away at Mercenaries Playground of Destruction for #PS2 and I will aim to put something together for this in the coming days, hopefully by mid-week, depending on how much time I get to write, etc.

But part of the reason why I was so determined to work through this game...

I hit the 100 Masteries milestone. So that is 100 games with all achievements. Now, admittedly, nearly a third of those are Mickey Mouse games. But I am so glad that Mercenaries will forever be on my record as the 100th game I mastered.
At some point, I will go back to Driver and get rid of that softcore completion, and hopefully convert that into a mastery.

But for the time being, I can rest well knowing I nabbed that $100,000,000 bounty and stopped some nuclear missiles.
