This local dude I've been texting is like "I'm bored" Well, have you thought about taking up clean freakery? I'm a clean freak and a #programmer. I'm never bored. In between #norwegian, programming, my cat and taking care of an 80 year old woman among all the other shit...I don't have time to be bored. But today I'm indulging my clean freakery.

I wish I could explain to you all how proud (and simultaneously insecure) I am of what I have been working on, and how utterly insane and complex my project has been becoming. 🫠 Suffice to say I have built an automatic device coordination and communication system (including spinning up new data streams :uplink: )...all of that was just to build this simple game for my experiment, but to make it flexible to run with teams of 2, 3, 5, N, players and be able to handle data collection, EEG, and other stuff. :corteximplant_b: :mk2:

It, hopefully, will be a super useful tool for anyone wanting to do research into groups, social dynamics and related investigation...or you could just use it to build a game haha. :commodore:

I think I just created a new social class. My neighbor was heading to work, and I'm like "oh what do you do?" I'm a roofer "Oh, blue collar job. Very cool" You? "I'm a psychedelic collared worker. A #programmer. We're paid to be eccentric" :D

Many times in my career I've wondered if I should ever have accepted that first promotion to management. Back in ye olde times, I was a #systemsadministrator and a #programmer. Occasionally I am nostalgic for the deep feeling of flow that accompanies working on a problem or #coding.

Today is not one of those days.

For the past couple of days I've been playing with #replit, an application that builds working web apps from your natural language description of features and functions.

Its performance is nothing less than stunning. It's not that it turns out better code than a human would, but rather that it turns out solid, working code faster than previously imaginable.

Beyond that, it is incredibly intuitive about what it is I'm trying to do. The implementation suggests future enhancements, all of which (so far, at least) have been on point.

It's quite hard these days to just be "someone that can program" but not a "full time programer" as apparently you're always lacking a lot of knowledge for knowing where you'd even start to tamper with something.

In many cases even if you already by coincidence found the function you want to modify.

Do others that aren't full time programmers and wanting to fix/contribute to #opensource projects "on the side" (or for specific issues) feel the same? Or is this just me?

Ugh. Slathered my back with lidocaine and icy hot. I'm starting to get the #queer #programmer back ache. I sit at my computers, legs wrapped around each other, and off to the side like this huge fucking nelly that I am secretary style. Takes a toll on the 43 year old back.
