[4/n] I ended up spending what seemed like 1 hour but were actually 7 just having my heart stabilised in #resus (I had developed #pericarditis with #AFL #tachycardia & f*ck knows what else heart-wise - 12mg #morphine isn’t great for “thinking” or “remembering”). Then the OTs had become busy while I was being stabilised so I ended up waiting 28h between going into A&E complaining of acute #appendicitis (well-founded) suspicion & #surgery by #laparoscopy. By then, it was a complete mess inside me.

jamanetwork.comSafety of the BNT162b2 COVID-19 Vaccine in Children Aged 5 to 17 YearsThis cohort study analyzes data from 3 commercial claims databases to conduct near–real-time monitoring of health outcomes following BNT162b2 COVID-19 vaccination in the US pediatric population aged 5 to 17 years.

When people do studies of rates of #myocarditis or #pericarditis after #vaccination against #COVID, I wish they would include a mention of the rates of these #heart issues as they occur from COVID infection for context. Put a mention in the introduction and maybe in the discussion sections of the paper.
#Journalists report on these studies, and if you don't mention that heart issues are far more common and serious from infections, it is less likely to be included in their reports. And their readers end up thinking the #vaccines are more dangerous than the disease -- which they are not.
And no, you can't assume the journalists will gather background from other sources if it is just a brief news report.
