I serve a mostly elderly, mostly conservative congregation (since Feb 2023).
If the immigrant raids, trans bans, and other crap happen as they predict, I will undoubtedly say/preach something that pisses my folks off. I don't plan to get fired, but if I did, it'd be worth it.

25 minutes before worship this morning, an older congregant stopped by my office and told me she has a new boyfriend. I said 'this is good, right? "
She replied, "Well it's complicated."
My brain immediately jumped to "he must be married."

But no, it's worse. She's being catfished by someone pretending to be a celebrity.

Nothing in seminary prepared me for this situation.

For those that wonder what a poor, unpaid, sickly #pastor does, here is a look at the last 24ish hours.

Last night, Thursday night, I was up all night with a #parishioner whose child had a medical emergency and ended up in the ER. Stayed with them until it was resolved at about 6 am Friday morning. Drive home to take a shower and change clothes.

Drove to the #college campus where I had classes for two hours. Finishing up my bachelor’s in clinical %psychology. Spent 45 minutes talking to a student who was worried about #Trump coming for them and their friends because they are transgender. I assured them that if they were to happen our church would offer them sanctuary and do everything in our power to protect them.

Came back home to have a quick hamburger with my wife and daughter before returning to the hospital to check on parishioners who are sick. Back home around 4 pm to answer phone messages and emails for the next two hours. 1/2
