Eby said BC will go after companies taking advantage of the killed carbon tax, to firm prices at a higher level, gouge consumers

The day it was done our local gas station dropped from $1.74 to $1.54 - the day after, right back up to $1.74

O&G will always gouge, always overprice - do something or get the fuck out of politics

Oh you want to figure out how to bike or walk to get a weeks worth of groceries? $400 seems like a lot until you’re not paying $200 a month on car insurance and this will last you for 10 yrs. We bought a Thule Chariot pre-COVID for like $800 and put thousands of kms on it for transit, fun, groceries, going to the museum, living life and sold it after 5 years with one replaced front wheel. People need to see the options #ottawa #onpoli #ottbike #ontario

Just came across this interview yesterday between CNN and Mélanie Joly where she mentions there have been talks between the Prime Minister of Canada and President of Mexico.

Good to see that that discussion is finally happening at the highest levels.

At the end, she is asked whether Canada and the USA are in a Trade War now. She answers yes, of course we are.

It’s not lost on me that it takes more than a message, especially with the way the current mayor has run things. But I don’t think “balanced approaches” have much life left in them given the world. Promising the world and saying all the low taxes and wide roads and blah blah blah can’t have much staying power especially if cars are about to get 25% more expensive #cdnpoli #ottawa #onpoli #ontario

Here’s some #cdnpoli hot takes given its an election and why not - if Pierre loses, its a toss for Ford or Smith as leaders of the federal #conservatives And given the data and polling from #ottawa centre, Joel could mount a decent run for mayor in 2026 if he could get his ground game extended into the suburbs. I dont hold much hope for Ottawa but there’s gotta be someone who can galvanize the burbs with the right message #ontario #onpoli #canada

“Some are afraid to say no to their customers. Then we’ll have no problem saying ‘no’ and preventing the moving of machinery.” - Emile Nabbout, Unifor Local 195

The only tool I want to see on the other side of that border is scab Shawn Fain.

11 minute interview between CNBC and Doug Ford and there is ALOT to unpack. The stupidity of the US commentators here talking to Doug Ford is just... 🤦‍♂️

Joe Kernen (sp) called Mark Carney, a former central banker, a “zealot”. A ZEALOT!? 😅 Because he believes in climate change apparently, or 'climate justice’ as he put it?

Obviously these fools still believe we can just burn down the planet and their investment portfolios will be just fine.

This was after there was sudden mass confusion on the American talking head side when Ford said Canada would get rid of all tariffs if the USA got rid of theres... obviously meaning the reciprocal tariffs Canada has put on, but apparently the talking heads thought he meant the tariffs Trump complains about (which by all accounts have never been applied)... which we should all know is just another smokescreen to Trump's actual intention, which is authoritarian, centralized control and manipulation of the market and thus economy of the United States and, in his hope, the world.

These are the same people who a year ago would have been cheerleading NAFTA/CUSMA... whose very purpose is tariff free trade.🤦‍♂️

Oh and "Joe" also tries to bait Ford into giving an opinion on Carney winning the election, Ford smartly avoids (as is Canadian political practice) much to Joe's chagrin.

Ford does an OK job overall here but I am saddened at the shot he takes at Mexico on "cheap parts" and talking about a "CUSA” deal without Mexico.

I don't understand Canada and Mexico's reluctance to work together through all this. There is obviously some sort of tension there that is not being communicated with the public of Canada, not sure about Mexico.

Also, if he thinks China is a bigger 'enemy' than the USA, he's fooling himself, but I suspect this is just the message he wants to portray to the Americans to try to get them to see reason.

👀 😥 In Toronto Library contract negotiations "Key bargaining points were 'safety & security', 'harassment' & 'workplace violence.' … public libraries have been pressed into service as de facto homeless shelters & support service locations. They’ve become hotbeds of people in crisis.

It's #homelessness all the way down."

Trump is about to make the Toronto homelessness crisis worse:
