Let it be known that not all #autistic people are like Lucy Bronze. They are all individuals.

Question for my more nonverbal fellow autistic people:
Do you have trouble verbalizing because of difficulty organizing your thoughts into words, difficulty getting your mouth to respond to your intentions, or something else altogether?
I find I'm most likely to struggle in the first few hours of morning. It's not impossible, but it's a serious struggle, and my words come out reluctantly and tend to be jumbled and full of false starts.

My grownup lad has just gone to Asda for me.
Why is that so interesting, you may ask?
Well, he's autistic with extreme social anxiety and is non-verbal.
Proud, to say the least.
Has anyone else listened to #TheTelepathyTapes podcast? I just finished Episode 7. Really fascinating stuff. Excited to listen to more.
my parents can't even handle a #NonVerbal adult (me, late this morning), boy am I glad we're not giving them human grandchildren. credit goes to spouse for the thought but I figured I'd share.
As promised here is Part 2!
Did you know that non-verbal communication can speak volumes when you’re learning a language? Sometimes a wave, a thumbs-up, or even a simple nod can break down barriers faster than any phrasebook!
When we teach and share Hebrew, we love incorporating gestures to bring the language to life. Whether it’s showing someone how to say “peace” with a handshake or mimicking the actions of daily life, these little movements make learning Hebrew even more engaging and exciting!
So next time words fail, let your hands, eyes, and even your smile do the talking! What’s your favorite gesture when learning or sharing a language?
Shabbat Shalom and Good Morning, everyone!
Today’s video lesson is here, and it’s a little silly, but hey—sometimes the best way to learn is to laugh while doing it! Whether you’re mastering serious verb conjugations or having fun with Hebrew tongue-twisters, every step in your language journey counts.
Take a few moments to enjoy, smile, and most importantly, embrace this beautiful Shabbat ahead. Wishing you a peaceful, joyful, and Hebrew-filled day!
Shabbat Shalom!
The first run of the #CommCards are in!
I'm beyond excited to have the physical version available at last. There are some small issues with them (which I mentioned recently) but they'll be fixed for next time.
These initial ten are going to locals, but future runs will be on a grander scale. They'll be in the neighborhood of $30 with no alterations, and around $40 for customizations/extras.
As ever, let me know what y'all think!

A about two weeks ago, I posted about having made cards for a friend who experiences #SelectiveMutism (often called #Nonverbal, which I now understand to be inaccurate; thanks folks!) and asked if other #Neurodivergent folks would have interest in more.
After an incredible response, I set to work immediately on rebuilding the project to a much higher standard!
Have a look!

Hey fedi folks
Just saw an interesting video about the problematic nature of the term "going non-verbal" in relation to autistic / AuDHD people becoming unable to speak, so we wanted to share the thought and the original video with you all
The replacement term suggested is "verbal shutdown", and what she goes on to describe is something we have personally experienced several dozen times sadly
You can find the video by Reberrabon_bon here.
What is a #nonverbal #learningdisorder? #TimWalz’s #son #Gus’ #condition, #explained.
Almost 3 million kids in North America have the #learningdisability #NVLD. It affects #spatialvisualskills and has nothing to do with #speaking abilities.

On Friday morning, #MSNBC "#MorningJoe" co-host #MikaBrzezinski dropped the hammer on #conservatives and #DonaldTrump supporters who mocked the emotional exchange between Gov. #TimWalz (D-MN) and his son Gus on Wednesday night.
In the now-viral clip, #GusWalz, who has a #nonverbal #LearningDisorder and suffers from #anxiety issues, was seen tearfully pointing at his father and exclaiming, "That's my dad."
A dear friend of mine was wanting an analog method of communicating for the chance he goes #nonverbal when he doesn't have access to his phone. Inspiration flashed through my mind immediately and I got to work... And a couple weeks later, I've got a finished prototype!
There are some issues with them, but overall I'm pleased as punch with how these turned out!
How many of us #neurodivergent folks out here would benefit from something like this? Should I make more?
#nonverbal does not mean:
-- non hearing
-- non thinking
-- non feeling
-- non understanding
