What I uncovered was an elaborate internal program. The PFC program raises troubling prospects for working musicians. Some face the possibility of losing out on crucial income by having their tracks passed over for playlist placement or replaced in favor of PFC; others, who record PFC music themselves, must often give up control of certain royalty rights that, if a track becomes popular, could be highly lucrative. But it also raises worrying questions for all of us who listen to music. Shantell PowellI’m still trying to sort out some nonsense with the bank over a cheque they deemed fraudulent for unknown reasons. It’s not. It’s my inheritance from my deceased grandmother. They put a hold on my account for a while and I couldn’t access my joint chequing account even though I’d deposited it in my personal savings account. They contacted my husband even though I’d put it in my account, not his. Then I went to the bank in person to sort it out only to be told I had to phone a number instead. So now I’m on hold with seriously obnoxious hold music. I have work I need to be doing, but the robot lady told me I can expect to be on hold for at least 45 minutes. There’s no option for them to call me back, instead. So I’m going to have to listen to this awful muzak for the next who-knows-how-long. To make it even worse, the volume of the shitty hold muzak keeps changing volume.
