Hybrid Peonies. Not my kind of flowers, really, I prefer more natural forms, with fully functioning sexy bits for the pollinators! These have been here a long time (this is one of 3 plants in different spots, there's one gigantic plant) planted by my mom and/or aunt a few decades ago. They are photogenic, though, and remind me of old Dutch Master still life paintings. Photos over 3 days. #gardening #Alberta #Canada #heritage #memories #photography #BloomScrolling #July

Yesterday I took a trip down memory lane going for a ride in my Dad's neighbours 1938 Riley Lynx. He brought it for half a crown. Only 60 remain in the world! As kids we used to wait for him to return from work and ask to go for a ride in the car. Nine years ago I visited the Riley as the neighbour was restoring it after a long time off the road. We spoke about the fun times and how it would be wonderful to go for a ride again. Today we did just that.

@wkfry Just so you know, glass baking dishes and pyrex bowls really don't do well on a stovetop. Many many years ago my sister, who would have been about 21 at the time, decided to reheat navy beans in a pyrex bowl on her gas stovetop burner. The bowl holding the beans and the liquid with them did indeed explode sending hundreds of cooked beans and shards of glass across the entire kitchen. Fortunately, no one was injured, but it will be funny forever.

Happy birthday to my big bro! 🎂🎉 This photo was taken in 1991! 🗓️

When we were younger, he was the quiet one, while I was the exuberant kid. This changed by the time we were in secondary school, as I became withdrawn and extremely shy, whereas his confidence blossomed.

Our physical appearances and personalities may have changed since this photo was taken, but our brotherly bond remains intact 👬❤️

When visiting old places
and feeling the change in oneself,
seeing the roads you have travelled
emotions that came, and have gone
some have stayed and withered.
So much has changed
in such a a short time.
Pain gave birth to happiness,
loneliness to togetherness.

. . .

Blue hues of your caresses
that wrapped my sorrows
and hid my tears,
gave solace in time
of my greatest need
are now silent and still.
No more whispers from the deep,
or murmuring of the pine trees.
Nothing is pulling me from the shore
to search for promises
made a long time ago.
I found my anchor,
my northern star
I feel the world
with an altered heart.
Blue hues of your waters,
the salt and the sun -
a begining, and an end
of a life that once was.

I don't have many good memories of my grandmother, but here's one.

One day, she came out to visit my family's farm. We had goats and pigs and ponies and chickens and such. She was indoors having a bath when we realized our twin kid goats were missing. We couldn't find them anywhere.

All of a sudden, Nana came running out of the trailer naked except for a towel. She was screaming bloody murder, and was chased by the two missing goats.

Apparently, they snuck into the trailer and hid in the bathroom linen closet. Nana got out of the tub when she heard a strange noise, and you know how the rest went. #goats #memories

One time, back when I was studying at the college of art and design, I had a long day at school. It was getting on in the evening, and someone came up to me to let me know the seat of my pants was ripped. I reached around only to find out that my entire ass was on display. I was wearing a thong.

I shouted, "Oh my god!" And heard peals of laughter erupt all over the school.

My ass had been on full display for hours and hours.

It's not like everyone there hadn't already seen my ass before. I'd been one of the regular figure models for drawing class for years. But jeeze... #memories #ass
