sgt1372<p><a href="https://sfba.social/tags/SFGiants" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SFGiants</span></a> <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/MLB" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MLB</span></a></p><p>For those who haven't noticed yet Hicks has lost his starting job to Birdsong who will start the 2nd game in the series vs the <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/Royals" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Royals</span></a> on 5/20. </p><p>Hicks has just been too erratic & has given up too many runs early in his starts.</p><p>The same can be said for Verlander but Hicks isn't being paid $15M & isn't likely to be an automatic candidate for the HOF on the 1st vote when he becomes eligible, which puts the Giants in a bind because are you really going to sit Verlander in lieu of Harrison? 🤔</p><p>Probably not unless they bail out of their contract & trade him elsewhere, if any team would have him given his performance at this stage in the season.</p><p>So, we're probably stuck with Verlander for the season & can only hope that he gets more consistent as the season progresses. </p><p>That said, his 0-3 record isn't entirely his fault. He could have a least a 2-1 record if the Giants had produced some runs when he was pitching well & didn't do a <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/MattCain" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MattCain</span></a> to him on those occasions. 🤷♂️</p>
