@bradlinder granted #OrangePi - like all the "#RaspberryPi competitiors" - fail at the most important part:

#Documentation!

They do make the "superior" #hardware where 'number go bigger!' and 'benchmark go brr!' is the case, sometimes even with lower power and lower price but if all they do is vomit out SBCs and a few outdated, highly-customized & non-reproduceable boot images, that is all pointless at a certain degree...

  • Mind you I'm confident #JeffGeerling would be comfortable porting a minimalist #linux like @OS1337 to a board, but the average user & systems integrator ain't!

🎥🤡 #YouTube, the paragon of content morality, graciously warns us that self-hosting media (gasp!) is as dangerous as assembling your own IKEA furniture without an Allen wrench. Meanwhile, our hero Jeff Geerling, the Robin Hood of legal media purchases, is publicly scolded for owning a Raspberry Pi and a conscience. 😂🔧

#JeffGeerling finally unlocks #RaspberryPi external #GPU support, and yes it runs Doom... 3 at 4K!
Raspberry Pi wizard Jeff Geerling has demonstrated 4K60 gaming on his #RPi5 setup. Crucially, the Pi 5 was given a considerable lift in the GPU department via the use of an M.2 to OCuLink adapter and an AMD Radeon RX 460 desktop graphics card
SuperTuxKart and Doom 3 can both run at 4K60 and max settings!

#MilkVJupiter is the first #ITX #RISCV board #JeffGeerling tested
It includes niceties like front panel IO, front-panel Audio, USB 3.0, and USB 2.0, 24-pin ATX power input, an M.2 M-key slot for NVMe, and an open ended PCI Express slot!
#Canonical seems to have a good relationship with #MilkV, so #Ubuntu seems to be the base distro off which #Bianbu #Linux is built.
It all works—a bit better than he expected. But RISC-V isn't ready for prime-time yet

The state of #Docker on popular #RISCV platforms
Docker and #Ansible, two tools for #devops work, both run stably—though with plenty of caveats since RISC-V is still so new.
A couple years ago, RISC-V was in very rough space, where #JeffGeerling would run into crashes, weird boot issues, etc. Today it feels a lot like #Arm #Linux in 2016 or so... there is some support out there, most things work, but you have to do a lot of manual tweaking to run real-world applications.
