With the amount of money I spend on #T1D every year I could afford to buy 12+ gaming systems.
And that doesn’t include the 10k I spent on my broken thumb due to a low.

Bernie at the Senate hearing on insulin and pharmaceutical prices
How about a damn *refund* from Eli Lilly for the $324,000 I’ve spent on insulin in the last 30 years staying alive. You could have dropped the price anytime you vultures. #Insulin4all #t1d yes it should be free. Miss me with your libertarian bs - this is why we have a society.
@ivan when insulin costs $10 a bottle but sells for $300, o reserve the right to call that corporate greed. When they decide to lower the price to $35 (because they totally can) but then call this lowering a “market growth opportunity” that’s greed. It’s also capitalism. The problem is both, but 300-400% markup is just selfish. #Insulin4All
So #EliLilly was able to magically drop the price of #Humalog from $274 to $66. This proves the cost of #insulin was never about recouping costs; rather, it was pure greed. This company saw the writing on the wall because so many spoke out and didn’t stop speaking. #Insulin4all
Only takeaway for me on this $35 insulin story is that the price was high for no reason other than corporate greed. Insulin was always supposed to be free. “Insulin belongs to the world, not to me.” - Banting, inventor of insulin #Insulin4All

This article describes one of my biggest concerns with the #TwitterMigration. Can #Mastodon replicate this type of advocacy and public awareness? I certainly hope it can but it will only happen if enough media and general users make their way here.

For my birthday, I’m raising funds for Insulin For Life USA, with a fun twist: for every donation of $20 or more, I’ll record a karaoke video of any song you want, no matter how embarrassing!
As a #Type1 #diabetic, this cause means a lot to me. IFL-USA gives #insulin and supplies to people with #Diabetes who can’t afford the outrageous prices. So help me support a great cause while humiliating myself on social media! #insulin4all #t1d

@QasimRashid even those of us on Medicare or another insurance with affordable insulin prices are at risk so long as insulin is priced so high.
A broken vial, an ineffective vial, your prescriber dropping the ball on refills, and any other number of everyday mistakes can mean you're stuck between paying full price, switching to another insulin that works completely differently, or trying to go without until the problem is solved.

At least Mark Cuban is being honest when he says he'll still make money on the insulin he eventually carries. We'll all just have to wait and see.

The umbrella for discussions of diabetes by diabetics on the other place, should you want to maintain a presence there, is #DOC, for diabetes online community. This was founded by and for people with T1D, with T2D participation increasing over recent years (and likely still in the minority). From there you could find hashtags for related issues or interests such as #WeAreNotWaiting and #insulin4all.
My insulin pump and my phone started screaming at me. They said I was at 66 with a double down arrow, meaning a rapid drop. I had NO hypo symptoms, and tested. Meter read 88. So I calibrated my pump and set a 15 minute timer. Now it says 107 and steady, almost a match to finger stick 2. Much better. Don’t let anyone tell you type 2 is the easy kind, they’re dead wrong. It’s just a different type of difficult.

@Joewebb you know that I’m deeply aware of that. #insulin4all
Woohoo. A1C is 6.8! My doctor wants me hovering around 7 because of heart failure. #Insulin4All #Diabetes
Welp, my account has been suspended with no reason cited, but it appears someone did not like my #insulin4all toots to my congressmen. I am appealing the suspension because the #T1D #diabetic community needs a new forum for advocacy now that the bird site is crumbling. Fingers crossed.
