Chronic Pain Tip #20: Often a nurse is able to provide very practical tips for managing your quality of life. Nurses also make an excellent sounding board. They may help you evaluate if your goals are reasonable. If you are willing to listen and trust they may offer tips to make your life easier.... rons-home.net/en/living-life-l #soundingboard #feedback #input #nurse #goal [Next Tip Mar 24 2025]

Hi :mastodon: , need advice! #help /H

Python or ... ❓

I'm looking for a customizable #tool for "massive" #linguistic #searches on the #Internet capable of #generating #lexical #associations. 🗣️
eg:
#INPUT (me): Musk
#OUTPUT (tool): Elon, Tesla, DOGE, Space X, X, Swasticar, Fellony, ...
in #trees #DB and giving the #frequency / #Stats of #use for #web #publication and future #referencing.

#Python you might say... but I'm not a #computer #scientist.

So yesterday, I was giving a lecture on Lin Yutang and his MingKwai typewriter and a student informed me that, apparently, it had been found.

Let me elaborate: The MingKwai was a revolutionary machine that could be used to type a theoretical maximum of 90 000 Chinese characters, almost twice as much as in Imperial China's largest dictionary. The legacy of its "Magic Eye" viewfinder system and Lin's statistical analysis can still be seen in how Chinese is written on computers today. According to Thomas S. Mullaney, it marked the birth of "input". Its only prototype was believed to have been lost, possibly thrown away or disassembled for parts.

And it was found. In a basement in New York. This January.

Original Facebook post that is either reporting the find or a very elaborate scam: facebook.com/groups/1277686226

Want american Democrats to ACTUALLY DO something already?

(Update: indivisible.org/ )

Consider Direct Action instead!
But as well as that, we *do* need a non-corrupt (yet! there's always time, ofc) replacement party that is ACTUALLY left-wing.

Tea Party and MAGA supporters did it. Don't follow their strategies completely, but DO LEARN FROM them.
We all deserve better -- even the Leopards Eating People's Faces party.

How many of them would have supported having their faces eaten if they KNEW it wasn't hyperbole or something?
Or if they took time to imagine and plan for the risks: their or loved ones' faces being eaten by leopards?

Now we just need a name and bunch of furries to advise how to protect our information technologies.

Prompt and Push. No one more than anyone. Punch Fascists. Tolerate No Intolerance. Ideal Outcomes.

These all feel like mottos or mission statements more than names, but eh. Hopefully this inspires someone. -- oh my god:

NOT DEM.

Varied Mountain Climbers?
"Everyone climbs the mountain in their own way."
After the (I wanna say Hong Kong?) Protests,
back when Blizzard censored an eSports player for mentioning or holding a flag or something?

I need help #Mastodon peeps.

I’m attempting my first ever #oc for a #webcomic and need some input.

Simpler or more detailed faces? I know simpler tends to do better across the board because it’s simple, but at the same time I know detailed can stand out more.

These are two rough sketches I drafted up and want to know which way to pivot towards. Which is your preference, less or more? And if you’d make any changes, let me have them! I love peoples input because it always makes things better.

Well, that was interesting. Found a fix for tilt (and rotation) to work correctly w/my wacom intuos pro s graphics tablet! 🌟 The issue was that `TX=` and `TY=` were not correctly going into the negative, causing weird behaviour.

It was more complicated than I expected so I ended up commenting on this issue with my solution:

I’d like to directly make use of the source and create an initial, human readable template by marking up dynamic parts in an effective way.
There are nice approaches to #templates for formatting #output. I’d like to find something similar for #input without reinventing a crutch and calling it a wheel.
(Yes, in an ideal parallel universe every source has a switch to output structured data.)

I’ll have to have a thorough look into existing ways of templating output, first. (2/2)

No takers?

Mission statement is still to create the best #emoji #input tool (emoji #keyboard, because it can "type" on click, with some restrictions caused by how X11 handles keyboard input) for plain #X11, without using any input-method services or specific toolkits!

I meanwhile have a rough roadmap towards 1.0 (see the "milestone" on github with issues linked), and I do a *lot* of intensive testing myself, but still I could need your help:

* Prio1: #Testing. Please, if you like X11 and sometimes use Unicode emojis, test it. It's impossible to always discover every issue alone. I'd like to release 0.8 soon, would be nice to have a few more eyeballs before doing so!
* Prio 2: #Translations. I have english (builtin) and german so far. If you're fluent in another language, please take the time to translate! The UI isn't huge, so this shouldn't be too much work.
* Prio 3: Check usability/features, if you find something irritating or missing, let me know.

Patches and/or pull requests welcome! They're actually necessary to add translations, I'll happily take bugfixes and (sane, maybe after discussion in an issue) new features as well 🤗
