#impostersyndrome

Nothing in the quote is particularly surprising, of course, but it's hard to see in this current environment because obviously my hope is that we keep reducing #ImposterSyndrome, since I'm teaching about coping with it!

I'd love to go out of business entirely in this space.

Currently pondering if there's anything I should change for that class given our current environment in the US. It already has DEI pretty baked in so I feel good about that.

i have debilitating #imposterSyndrome 😆 25y experience in #security, but i know for a fact that i am unusually good at facilitating a #threatmodel. you have to get people to trust you enough to tell you things they don't feel great about or would do differently after we meet but that's the thing— together we create remediation plans that let people do their best work & they weave security and privacy into their work and when you meet again you can see how much better things are, it's parade time

I’ve released 5 #selfpublished books and today I’m feeling hit with severe #impostersyndrome . I #write as a #hobby mostly because I’ve got these stories floating around in my head that need to get out. But once out there I never know if I’ve found “my people” who enjoyed the book. Maybe they’re out there. But I’ve not met them or had any interactions. Not even an email. Ugh. Just ugh. #writingcommunity #amwriting #author #authors #yalit #authorsofmastodon

#3GoodThings #ReasonsToBeCheerful today

  1. Hired a Data Analyst to support me in our #science #research projects. I just onboarded her today and she's already started contributing! ✨👩‍🔬

  2. Got a call from a student - I had supervised her summer research project on GIS mapping and policies related to water circularity in Bengaluru #India - y'all she got a job as a researcher at a university!! she's going to be training students and performing chemical analysis of Bengaluru's lakes! I'm so proud of her and it was so heart warming that she called to inform me about this! 💚 :FaceHoldingBackTears:

  3. I got invited to attend an international conference on water circularity and #sustainability at the institute where I did my PhD. feels a bit surreal that the same institute where I was once a grad student, I now get to be an invited guest and some of the speakers are my collaborators! overcoming #ImposterSyndrome one step at a time! 💪

Your destiny isn’t tied to a role. You were a person before your role.

Leadership expert and strategist Christina Joy Whittaker talks to us about the "murky middle", a phenomenon rooted in misalignment and purpose.

It's something quite distinct from imposter syndrome, but is often "misdiagnosed" as just that. Christina helps us to understand and recognise the difference, and find our true calling.

On “imposter feelings:"

“While we label these emotions ‘negative’ because of how they feel to experience, Eisenberg reminds us that they often have an admirable context:

Passion.

We don’t grow anxious when doing something we don’t care about. We do it and check it off our to-do list. It’s only the things we want to do right that stir up those uneasy feelings.”
