#immunodeficiency

It's my birthday and I'm sick and it's alright.

I had #longcovid in 2022 and developed an #immunodeficiency (igg2 SAD) from it. I basically spent a good part of that year in bed. It was a pause on my whole life, and I'm still rebuilding it.

I learned some skills for this moment that I forget when I'm well. Mostly: you can't do anything when you're not caring for yourself. And in periods of overwhelm, next right action is the only thing that matters - to yourself and the collective

According to an excellent explanation from #TACT the wave of mystery pneumonias follows in time and space any wave of #pirola aka the #BA286 family.
In particular the most infectious variant to date, #JN1 "with extreme immune evasion and suppression". In other words, this is the variant most likely to induce #immunodeficiency.
Anything that can cause "secondary" pneumonia is on the list, particularly in children and the elderly whose immune systems are already weakened.
⚠️ At the end of the article, there is a warning that adults will be the next to be affected, in the coming weeks.

There does not seem to be any rhyme or reason to when I feel well. So far, today is a good day. Yesterday was a very high pain day.

Results are still pending for the major autoimmune blood test and my theory is that it was positive so they had to run more tests.

I do have something called hypogammaglobulinemia which explains why I get sick so easily. Sigh. At least I never stopped masking.

Immunodeficiency in humans is not good.

Wearing masks, improving ventilation, avoiding crowds and getting fully vaccinated and boosted can help avoid it and keep your immune system healthier.

NatureSARS-CoV-2 infection causes immunodeficiency in recovered patients by downregulating CD19 expression in B cells via enhancing B-cell metabolism - Signal Transduction and Targeted TherapyThe SARS-CoV-2 infection causes severe immune disruption. However, it is unclear if disrupted immune regulation still exists and pertains in recovered COVID-19 patients. In our study, we have characterized the immune phenotype of B cells from 15 recovered COVID-19 patients, and found that healthy controls and recovered patients had similar B-cell populations before and after BCR stimulation, but the frequencies of PBC in patients were significantly increased when compared to healthy controls before stimulation. However, the percentage of unswitched memory B cells was decreased in recovered patients but not changed in healthy controls upon BCR stimulation. Interestingly, we found that CD19 expression was significantly reduced in almost all the B-cell subsets in recovered patients. Moreover, the BCR signaling and early B-cell response were disrupted upon BCR stimulation. Mechanistically, we found that the reduced CD19 expression was caused by the dysregulation of cell metabolism. In conclusion, we found that SARS-CoV-2 infection causes immunodeficiency in recovered patients by downregulating CD19 expression in B cells via enhancing B-cell metabolism, which may provide a new intervention target to cure COVID-19.

Ignore the title and reference to ivermectin. This article is not primarily political, but the title reflects how the pandemic in general is political. Don't let that turn you off.

The article explains our situation really well, including why so many hospitals are filling with sick kids. It's important that people understand the issues discussed in this post.

@profcelentyx @cellpress Interesting... I get infusions for . Some batches cause severe knee joint pain-worse than my baseline and the joints make horrible noises. Now I'm wondering if the IgG is inflammatory sometimes? I've only started IgG a year ago so I don't know what it was like in the before times. Are there other diseases that do this or just covid? I was unaware of until now.

I have etc..

I spend a lot of time reading research trying to find something to help me be more functional. MCAS was a big cause of pain, but the fatigue portion I haven't made much progress.

Now I'm just trying to not get covid-I don't need new problems. Sadly vaccines don't work on me & reactivated my EBV.

Otherwise I make art, and have kitties, and foster kittens.
