Emory<p>i went to update the m2 pro mini upstairs and was like "aw dang why doesn't this use more storage for the <a href="https://soc.kvet.ch/tags/iCloudCache" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>iCloudCache</span></a>?" ⌨️`AssetCacheLocatorUtil` …</p><p>i lol'ed the macs, iPhones, Apple TVs can see not only the local cache here in PHL, but both of the content caches back in IOW as well. all 3 are available to devices, so now i will get some tooling to see how much cache-to-cache and PHL-to-IOW cache retrievals are happening?</p><p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://hachyderm.io/@tailscale" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>tailscale</span></a></span> can do so many amazing things and i'm not even trying yet 😂</p>
Emory<p>as i am unwilling to leave my house on black friday, nevermind go to a _shopping mall_ to an **apple store**, i ordered my replacement <a href="https://soc.kvet.ch/tags/iPadPro" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>iPadPro</span></a> (another 11" nano but silver and white keyboard this time) and it'll all get delivered monday. and sunday my replacement sdCarrier-reader and nvme enclosure and drive (hp 2tb $98 on amazon) and a slew of microSD cards (the lexar silvers are great i use sandisks in raspis though) arrives and i will make my household <a href="https://soc.kvet.ch/tags/iCloudCache" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>iCloudCache</span></a> do some work to rez to 1TB</p>
Emory<p>i forget that <a href="https://soc.kvet.ch/tags/screenSharing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>screenSharing</span></a> in <a href="https://soc.kvet.ch/tags/macOS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>macOS</span></a> can let you peek at the boot process during OS updates. i'm usually attached to 1-3 macs during a workday that way and it always surprises me 😂 </p><p>"are we there yet? are we there yet?”</p><p>ooh i hope it slurped it off the new <a href="https://soc.kvet.ch/tags/iCloudCache" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>iCloudCache</span></a> server!</p>
Emory<p>alright since killing off macOS power management via `pmset` the <a href="https://soc.kvet.ch/tags/virtualized" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>virtualized</span></a> Sonoma VM has continued with 100% uptime on the <a href="https://soc.kvet.ch/tags/iCloudCache" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>iCloudCache</span></a> service.</p><p>i attempted an `absorbCache` via smb and the ACLs and permissions are hairy, local attached would be easier.</p><p>got netdata installed \o/ </p><p>BUT i was able to login to app store with my developer appleID, <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mas.to/@stooovie" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>stooovie</span></a></span> so there's a feather in my cap. will try an iCloud login after i snapshot this thing:</p>
Emory<p>apparently <a href="https://soc.kvet.ch/tags/iCloudCache" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>iCloudCache</span></a> service doesn't like to run under <a href="https://soc.kvet.ch/tags/virtualization" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>virtualization</span></a>. i am going to have to run that rabbit hole tomorrow though it's noodle night at my house!</p><p>didn't expect this to be a problem!</p><p><a href="https://soc.kvet.ch/tags/householdIT" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>householdIT</span></a> <a href="https://soc.kvet.ch/tags/macOS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>macOS</span></a></p>
