“Surgeon under investigation over ‘chilling’ video of him tearing down teal’s corflute: This video is a stark reminder of the breadth of harmful misogynistic attitudes across the community.

“What we saw in that video was not just vandalism – it was a chilling display of misogyny and intimidation.”

A spokesperson for Ryan’s campaign confirmed on Friday that a donation made by (Prof.) #GregMalham had been rejected and his money refunded.

Ryan – a #paediatric #neurologist, #researcher and #professor prior to her political career – said the video was deeply concerning, but not an isolated incident.”

The fact that Ryan worked in the same medical field at the same level (ie: Colleagues) makes this a *targeted* action.

PsyPost: Hostile tweets linked to upbringing and legal troubles, study finds. “By linking official government records to the online activity of Danish Twitter users, the researchers found that individuals with numerous criminal verdicts, more time spent in foster care, better performance in primary school, and higher childhood socioeconomic status tended to be more hostile in their social […]

Editorial: A #president just #disrespected America in the #OvalOffice. It wasn’t #Zelensky

It’s time to say it plainly. America’s leadership has switched sides in the war. The #American people have not, and they should speak up.

In the past several weeks, the U.S. leadership has demonstrated explicit #hostility towards Ukraine and aligned its #rhetoric and policy with Russia.

@weebdeluxe Believe me, many of us aren’t happy about it. Thirty years ago, we bought our home on a street three doors away from a bus arterial which started to diminish 10 years ago. Now past retirement age, with limited mobility, I’d planned to ride the bus to my gym in the neighborhood center (and used to when I could walk better). Recent signage has removed the county bus line. With my EV it’s difficult to park near the gym, even with disabled permit.

Too much consumption of political news is associated with political hostility and interference with other aspects of people's lives. The association was strongest among those who were most comfortable with confrontation.

#Trump has been vague about which parts of #Biden’s programs he would seek to throttle or alter—but not about his #hostility to the #climate agenda.

“All of the trillions…that are…not yet spent, we will redirect…for…projects like roads, bridges, dams & we will not allow it to be spent on meaningless Green New Scam ideas,” Trump said during his speech at the #RNC, vastly *overstating* [lying about] the amt of money Biden’s agencies have yet to disburse.

"Labour has gone to great lengths to make clear that nothing substantial will change."

"Centrist rule, typified by the incapability or unwillingness to take seriously the manifold crises humanity now faces, only increases the political dissatisfaction on which the far-right feeds. The […] Tories – or Reform itself – may well return renewed and worsened in 2029 when public frustration sees Labour’s exercise in political nothingness collapse."

#Extremism: what explains extreme behavior?

Some argue #extremists must believe radical claims as *facts/truth* (in order to complete otherwise unacceptable plans — e.g. #terrorism).

Neil Van Leeuwen's keynote shared two objections, preferring one over the other.

Neil thinks extremists’ beliefs are make-believe (like religious belief). Rather, the extremity is explained by outgrip #hostility, rather than factual belief.

Since, #AileenCannon has exhibited #hostility to #prosecutors, handled pretrial motions slowly & indefinitely postponed the #trial, declining to set a date for it to begin even though both the prosecution & the defense had told her they could be ready this summer.

#Trump’s attys have urged her to #delay any trial until after the #election, & her handling of the case has virtually ensured that they will succeed in that strategy. Should Trump…[win], he could order the #DOJ to drop the case.
