@Jeff do you want to #hibernate because then I'd recommend a swap partition. The size of the swap partition you can decide, cause you probably don't need to hibernate the hole 30 GB of active programs.

Most distros out-of-the-box support #hibernation, you just make a swap partition, depending on how much disk you can play with, I'd size it 20 to 30 GB.

To initiate hibernation, use the
`systemctl hibernate` command.

Do you remember me talking about this wonderful article? the one where you are taught in detail with source snippets how Linux goes bye-bye when it goes to sleep?
The article has so much in-depth details that it takes a lot of time, considerable inteligencia & knowledge to process. Contrary to others I will not only say it, I will explicitly state it is fascinating and a heavy read.

Take your time to process the article; it's worth learning this in depth, in miniatures detail, all the way down to the sources, so you know what goes on, when the power management or your Linux powered VM, or Linux powered Hardware machine, goes down, hard, inexplicable:

To you it will become explainable!

Writing an efficient persistence layer with #Hibernate (or #SpringDataJPA is simple and complicated at the same time.

It's simple because avoiding common pitfalls and following best practices is good enough for most applications.

And it's complicated because there are many of them. To make it even worse, some are tied to specific Hibernate versions and circumstances.

In this article, I summarize my most important tips to avoid and fix performance problems:

Oregon Health & Science University researchers have identified a process that could one day help clinicians lower body temperature in people experiencing life-threatening events, such as heart attacks or #strokes. If applied in humans, who can’t naturally #hibernate, the discovery could mimic the natural ability of certain animals to lower their body temperature during hibernation.

Most of the days I'm going along okayish with people. Some days not so good. And then there are the days I have do deal with quirks of #ORM (yes, looking at you #hibernate) frameworks. Those are the days I become all consuming rage and should not be allowed to talk to people....

Anyone else suffering from Too Cold Too Quickly shock?🥶 +2ºC/36ºF

Fighting a mind and body focused entirely on napping all day, curled up on the sofa under a small mountain of blankets and cushions.
Thankfully, it's not +2ºC in the house.

... might be the same brain switch that bears🐻 have, the time to hibernate signal. 😆
