Weary Wulf[P] I've long learned that it's too much of an ask to request that neurotypicals be wary of their bias and privilege, but still... i guess it can't hurt to ask again. I mean, failing that, it might be worth setting up a watch list for works written by writers with this bias. Weary Wulf[P] The neurotypical gamer enjoys having xenophobia validated. And, like I said, a lot of villains are coded not as evil—but different. I've witnessed very few villains who were more akin to a narcissistic, sociopathic corporat3 goon because there'w less bias there, despite the obvious evils of wealth. I've noticed that neurotypicals tend to idolise—and even worship—their bosses. Weary Wulf[P] "You aren't like me or mine, why are you helping me? What's your angle?" This notion that there has to be an "angle" is EXTREMELY neurotypical. It's cathartic for neurotypicals when there is one, as it validates tribal xenophobia and the hatred of others. Daisy in BG3 was VERY sex positive autism coded, thus the expectation for me was that they were sincere. I've known a number of sex positive, flirty, and kind autists who just want to help—I've known a couple of attractive autistic people who intentionally used flirting to make others feel better about thenselves. Weary Wulf[P] If a writer doesn't like the dissimilarity of autistic people—a villain might be autism coded. I think where this gets especially vile is that autism can have a sincere and uncommon perchant for morality and empathy, even where the subject of their feelings is very diffetent. I ask you to consider: for propagandised russians, Ukraine is evil; for propagandised israelis, Palestine is evil; for propagandised germans, well... It was anyone the Third Reich took a disliking to. If you're writing a villain, that villain can pull on subconscious biases regarding those who're different, who don't share similarity with you and yours. It has a lot to do with the xenophobia of neurotypicals, otherness, "moral rigidity," and empathy. I'm hoping a lot of game devs see this, because it's really important.
