With some time on my hands, I fired up <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/FreshRSS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#FreshRSS</a> in a <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/Docker" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Docker</a> container, imported my feeds, and away I go! It seems really nice, even just base features. Just need a nice Android client now.

Christian TietzeOne thing I really love about my <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/FreshRSS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#FreshRSS</a> install on my NAS is that the cookie never expires. I'm using the website only to add a feed every now and then. Reading is done elsewhere, on other devices.This is absolutely not true for other self-hosted services where I have to log in every time I visit after a hiatus of a couple of weeks, like my Calibre Web library.

First it's quite easy nowadays. And second, because I want to get rid of passwords and just use <a href="https://mastodon.skorpil.cz/tags/passkeys" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#passkeys</a> .This is one of many examples showing that good apps should just focus on one task and just use standards to cooperate with other apps focusing on other tasks.Peertube for example focuses on videos, not user management. I am very OK that they don't support passkeys, because they implemented OpenId Connect standard to allow me use Keycloak for better login options.On the other hand, I am quite sad that SSO is often the one feature, that is proprietary and reserved only for paying customers. SSO is not for huge corporations anymore. It's also usefull for us, selfhosters with couple of users.❤️ :opensource: :keycloak:

It's duct taped together for now as I first wanted to try it out, but I'm liking it so far. I had seen those RSS buttons on websites for a while and I never had a way to use them. I am already subscribed to 717 sources, mostly to individuals who regularly write interesting and digestible stuff. I can't read every blog, even of people I admire, so I am ultra picky, and subscribe only if the writing is amazing. And I keep seeing new amazing blogs and thinking "how could it be I never came across it"? The bonus is, people who write amazingly, they too read amazing stuff and give links to it.
