What's kind of funny (but unsurprising) is how even after #Audacity had their initial telemetry controversy, we're seeing them go down the path of #enshittification. Of course, these features can be disabled at build time, but (heads up: promotional) We Do It For You™.
Either way, it can be an #anecdote that with a bit of...#tenacity, you don't have to justify a #fork. Just let your upstream do it for you.
Before you #fork an open-source project, pause and consider whether it might not be more helpful to spoon it.

No sé ustedes, pero tomando en cuenta que a mí X11 va rotísimo en mi compu, y ahora viendo que el único fork aparentemente viable es mantenido y auspiciado por un neonazi, siento que tengo aún más razones para promover a favor de #Wayland, por más que les arda a los antis.

Beware of "compostable" products that aren't actually compostable at home. In digging through my compost pile this week I unearthed 3 forks (from takeout food I purchased several years ago) that I think were made by the California-based company, Karat Earth (aka Lollicup). On Amazon and elsewhere the sentence the company uses in marketing is "simply toss the fork into a compost bin when finished." And the forks themselves have the text, "compostable" embossed on them. On company's own website, however, is a logo from the Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI) indicating, in a small font, that forks are "commercially compostable only," which means they only begin to break down at ~190 °F (88 °C). Hmm, schade, bei @organicmaps scheint‘s gerade – gelinde gesagt – etwas zu rumpeln. Wer diese nutzungs- und datenschutzfreundliche, lokale Maps- und Navigations-App kennt und bisher schätzte, sollte vielleicht schon mal @CoMaps folgen.
Dort ist auch der offene Brief zu finden, in dem die Community die Probleme zusammengefasst hat. Vielleicht entsteht dort auch ein #Fork.

Conduwuit still runs but isn't updated; Continuwuity is the path forward.

Background: Perforce bought Puppet in 2022, betrayed the #FOSS community and changed the license. This resulted in a #fork called #OpenVoxProject, but old puppet releases still worked, so many #DevOps did not care enough to switch.
Yesterday the release key for the free puppet packages expired. It is unlikely that they will renew those keys.
It's time to move on. https://voxpupuli.org/openvox/ is a drop-in replacement. #FOSS saved the day again!
