Because poverty is artificial scarcity, created by the capitalist system in order to maintain enrichment of a small fraction of people, i.e. owners of capital, as well as the social power that comes with "scarce" wealth. ➡️ We propose: Universal basic services (UBS), a form of social security in which all citizens of a community receive unconditional access to a range of free, basic, public services, funded by taxpayers and provided by a government or public institution. 🐡 These are not nice-to-haves but necessities.
