In the aftermath of the #TransientIschaemicAttack I was asked to get an #EchoCardiogram done. That’s essentially an ultrasound of the heart, followed by a consult with a cardiologist.

Good morning fr #Pasadena. Another #Heatwave, but hopefully the last intense 1 of the year.
Today, & 37ºc (99ºF) so working indoors, arranging second kitchen to receive a new fridge. We live in a duplex & therefore have 2 <too> small kitchens.
Here are 2 photos fr the dog park this morning. I'd promised myself a walk today, but my mind is still too much on yesterday’s news from my cardiologist.
Last year, I was diagnosed with mitral valve regurgitation, but my #EchoCardiogram of last week shows that my heart is also enlarging and the valve regurgitation has also worsened though it's still only mild-to-moderate (before it was only mild).
I am so lucky to have been referred to cardiology about 10 years ago. Not only would all of these details go unnoticed and worsen, but being a cardiac patient (initially only afib & aflutter) is why they kept me in emergency when I had an almost undetectable heart attack in 2018 and eventually admitted me though asymptomatic.
Without my heart history when I had the heart attack, I would have been sent home. It was only because I was hospitalized that they noticed that my #Troponin levels were rising. A subsequent angiogram revealed that I my arteries were so completely obstructed that I was on the verge of a massive heart attack. Most likely saved my life.
Happy Tuesday!
Echocardiogram
"I had a transthoracic echocardiogram on Monday 20-May, as a followup to my cardiac diagnostics. They wanted to check on that enlargement of the ascending aorta, as well as the aortic valve calcification. Short story: Everything is stable."

Turns out my “follow up appointment” yesterday was actually an appointment for an echo.
Still haven’t seen a doctor. Still don’t know what the plan is.
But I’ve had an ultrasound of my heart and it sounded pretty cool.
I’m waiting again now for what happens next.

A system using deep learning algorithms to analyze ultrasound video images is shown to detect a difficult-to diagnose type of heart failure with clips from one view of the heart.
Had my quarterly echo today with a new tech. She was quite relieved to find out that I already knew I had two very different lungs. Or as she said “your left lung is big and beautiful and healthy………….pause…….”
