Finished sail after frigging with the rigging.

No it's not getting a dragon's head on the top.

A model sail, with green cloth bundled up and tied to the yard arm. The yard itself is lashed to the top of the mast with embroidery cord to make it look like it's properly rigged. As properly as it's going to get anyway. It's being held in a white guy's hand, with the mast between thumb and forefinger. In the background is a cutting mat and crafting paraphenalia, such as superglue, scissors, and PVA glue.

My friend: "A sail would really cement the Viking theme on your coastal diorama."

Me: "I'll 3D print a sail."

My brain: "Hold my beer."

A model of a sail sat on a cutting mat. It is made from a length of cloth that has been rolled up and rigged to the horizontal yard with embroidery thread. The mast and yard are carved from long match sticks and touched up with brown ink.

So it did seep a little, and the resin made contact with the foam on the side and bottom edges, which I didn't seal in the same way as the sand.

Seal everything with PVA. Then seal it some more. ALL THE SEALING! The exothermic reaction must have got really hot, as it's melted the XPS foam in places where the heat got to it.

So today will be filling holes, finishing the shieldmaiden, and maybe the cliff. Still, success!

A diorama featuring a beach, a cliff, a small boat, some seaweed, and a deep block of green-blue-grey resin to mimic the sea, The front of the diorama has minimal damage from the resin curing process. Overall, it looks pretty good. Just needs some cleaning up and the diorama finishing.

We're looking okay this morning. The left side of the dio has bulged a bit and the resin seeped down the side (where land would be) but I can sand that back. A few bubbles (as per pic, the extra-shiny bits) on the seaweed but I'm pretty pleased overall. Plus, once i get the water gel on to texture some gentle waves, and touch it up with some white, you won't notice.

The cliffs in the background are currently a mixture of greys, and need more colour and white picking out on them. The seaweed looks good, wet from the resin but with very tiny bubbles that make it look silvery. The resin itself is a deep, semi-transparent green-blue-grey. Clear enough that you can see the seaweed beneath it, as well as the sand on the surface of the beach.

Assuming it survives the next 72 hours, I need to add waves, finish the cliff, add static grass, build up the sand around the boat, and finish off a couple more miniatures. I have a week before final submission date for the local craft festival...

I've been working on a little #diorama to display some of my #ClanJadeFalcon units. Some dust got into the speed paint so there are some defects I need to cover up, and I dropped it which damaged it near the rear squad of elementals. I've patched it up with putty and sanded the side reasonably smooth but it still needs to be repainted. It also needs a bit more mica flake to make the snow glitter. I may also dry brush a bit of mica flake on the trees.
