Le problème arrive souvent quand on change de pédalier ou de boîtier de pédalier.

For their #Disruptor , @rodbikes has worked with #Browning to create a system similar to the old #Suntour BEAST, except on the rear gear cluster rather than on the crankset. There are hinged gates on every cog that move the chain, rather than a #derailleur pushing the chain back and forth. All that's needed is a chain tensioner that's able to follow the chain! #cycling #bicycle

With help of a passerby he managed to convert his 1x11 #drivetrain to a #SingleSpeed one.
Hangers fatigue and break, especially when riding off-road; it's better to be ready for that: carry spare hanger, chain breaker, pliers, chain link. We had only a chain breaker 
I've also heard that gearhubs are pretty reliable
