Today in #GardeningWithAnarchists:

I was hoping to not have to give the green asparagus a year of going to ferns in order to get some edible-sized ones. But looks like I'll be giving them a year to put energy into the roots, because that's what's needed.

I let most of the purple ones go to fern last year (only eating a couple raw), and they're much bigger this year.
I'm hoping the addition of three more crowns to the two existing purple ones will produce enough for me to eat. I have three crowns more in pots (going to fern) I'm not sure I need them.

I absolutely do not have enough for a meal at this point with just the purple, but I've been eating a fair amount of them raw. I'm hoping that next year instead of getting two at a time I'll get six or seven, which is enough for a side dish. (Yes, I am letting the tallest of the purple go to fern, and probably one or two additional later on.)

I've got a couple of Meyer lemon trees. They are tricky to get started, but it is possible. Try and get a few seeds to work with if you can.

Martha Stewart8 Fruits That Thrive in Pots and Containers, From Blueberries to CherriesYou don't need a large garden to enjoy fruit at home. From bushes to trees, experts say these are the best fruits to grow in pots and containers.

HOA rules are "no growing vegetables on your porch".

What edible plants would you suggest I grow? I'm already growing mint, because herbs!=vegetables in my mind. Last year I grew potatoes because
1. they're sneaky and
2. I had a bag full of volunteers.

The reasoning for the rule is that vegetables attract pests, which feels kinda silly because they allow planting bulbs, which I
know attract pests because all the bulbs I planted last year were dug up and eaten by pests. #containergardening #sneakygardens #growmyown #containergardening #sneakygardens #growmyown #containergardening #sneakygardens #growmyown #condolife

Anyone got a link to what to expect when a narcissist's flying monkeys turn on them?

This last set of screenshots would merit making a bucket of popcorn, but I've got a fire to make so I can have ashes for the potato wounds.

These potatoes are well-chitted and need to get into bags. Bonus photo of my "helper" who has returned to his chair after successfully ruining the first three photos.

Photo-bombing is hard work, dontcha know.

3 good things:

1) a couple years ago i bought a stovetop water distiller. it's stainless steel and can also be used as a double boiler, stock pot and to render fat in.

it's *fantastic*! i use it on my single eye induction burner and i can get a gallon of water every 3-4 hours as well as humidify my house.

2) my perennials survived the winter! this is my third year experimenting with perennials in bins with lids over winter and they're doing amazing now that they're out of the garage and on my porch.

3) got some more degoogling done today. i'm deleting (backed up) photos from the cloud and it's been a fun trip down memory lane.

man, i save so many memes, lol.
