1/2 Our central #Scotland #Presbyterian #church #choir bravely attempted an #Anglican chant #Psalm setting today. They did a good job, but I suspect many in the congregation would have been just as puzzled if they had sung it in #Gaelic in the "lining out" style of the free churches of the #Highlands

When you see the emotion you bring to people with music, it is truly why you do it.
People laugh, people dab their eyes, people in rapt attention.
It just looks like a mess of paper, but.. while I was in Montreal Josh Dolgin (Socalled) invited me to his office at McGill to look at the boxes of Yiddish choral music which were discarded after the sale of the former Arbeter Ring (Workers Circle) building. It's about 3 big boxes with many duplicates so he's still trying to match parts together and make sense of what is in there.
Tomorrow's the big day: the world premiere of NOW WE ARE EARTH at Opera Ballet Vlaanderen. But not before tonight's dress rehearsal.
We'd like to give special thanks to the members of our Antwerp city choir, who have been rehearsing with the other performers for months. Thank you all for your hard work, and for being the blueprint for all the different city choirs to come on our 2025 tour. We couldn't have done it without you all.

"Duel of the Fates" is a #musicalTheme recurring in the Star Wars #prequelTrilogy and the #ExpandedUniverse. It was composed by #JohnWilliams and recorded for the #filmSoundtrack of #StarWarsEpisodeIThePhantomMenace by the #LondonSymphonyOrchestra (LSO) and the #LondonVoices. This #symphonic piece is played with both a full orchestra and a #choir. The lyrics are based on a fragment of an archaic #Welsh poem, #CadGoddeu (Battle of the Trees), and are sung in #Sanskrit.

Tempted, but I'm NOT going to enter for the scratch choir for the remembrance-of-the-fallen ceremony on May 4. Even though I could finally learn the alto part of "O Canada" and this year the rehearsals are at times I could manage.
But a wedding on Friday and normal services on Saturday and Sunday are quite enough.
Lovely setting for our choir performance of Pergolese's Stabat Mater, in which we were ok the soloists were great and the organist was super helpful.
BUT OH, I need to get more comfortable shoes for the next performance!
