Only slightly late now:
The last part of my #pepperinacan challenge 2024. The photo was taken back in november, when I harvested the (two) peppers from my pepper in a can.
I was actually surprised, that the plant grew so well in the can and didn’t need anything, apart from water.
The yield, of course, was not comparable, to that of a 10 liter planter, which usually gives me 50-100 chili peppers.
Quite a fun project though.

Und der zweite Teil der Chili Ernte, die Jalapenos. Die sind leider etwas zu milde zum Teil, aber trotzdem lecker, das ist ja die Hauptsache. Und auch in tollen Farben. Habe ich essigsauer eingelegt und würde sie am liebsten direkt probieren, aber jetzt ist erstmal Abwarten angesagt. #chilis

UPDATE TODAY:
2nd batch much easier as I got 1 long pan under the oven broiler for all 16 peppers to roast. This time roasted less time, less burned. Perfected flash freeze:
saved aluminum pie pans and squares of parchment paper. I laid out 6 or so pepper slabs on parchment and can get 2 rows then use next pan and repeat with papers to prevent sticking/freezing together. Stack 4 pans for 10 layers. 2 hrs freezer. Peel slabs to put in ziplock bags to freezer store.

Ta-Da! Roasted Hatch chili peppers done. Checkmark another culinary adventure thanks to @elaterite with tips from several other folks on the post yesterday. I wasn’t prepayfor how quick roasting in my oven broiler would be - 5 minutes. Or that I would hear pops as some split. Couldn’t find my many wire racks so got out the screen for baking breaded food and fries. Oh the aroma in the house! Yay!
