I loved this scenic view in Capitol Reef National Park because of all the layers of flora and rock formations from a foreground of shrubs and grasses to distant background red rock cliffs. The scene shows the rugged beauty of the desert environment.

Tergenev has moved

Went with my family this past week and a half to the Big Five national parks in Utah. It was an amazing trip, and we are all very tired. It involved something like 25 hikes, with several of them being more than 6 miles in length. I'm no longer a spring chicken, so this was quite a lot of walking, climbing, and clinging to cliffs. #ZionNationalPark #Arches #CapitolReef #BryceCanyon #Canyonland
We started in Zion NP, where strangely, it was raining.

Rainy road overlooking the Pine Creek Canyon that splits off from Zion Canyon near the bottom. Gray overcast skies over the red cliffs with green trees and shrubs growing on the shoulders of the mountains.
Curved sandstone hills lined with horizontal rows of sedimentary rocks, with a natural arch starting in the distant mountainside rockface, all sparsely covered with dark green pine trees and bushes. The rocks are streaked in light tan and a variety of shades of ochre and russet. This is the terrain for the petroglyph pools hike on the East side of Zion national Park
Zion National Park in the main Zion Canyon. This is the Court of the Patriarchs section of the park, looking up at two of the three peaks that were named after the Christian Patriarchs by Methodist travellers through the region in the 19th century. Blue sky with white fluffy clouds over the rusted sandstone cliffs of Zion Canyon, with dark and ash green growth all around the legs and ankles of the mountains. Sandy soil in the foreground with brushy bushes in light green.
