Ayyy another not-terrible thing! I’m so glad I took notes on what all I did on this one. Mostly this was A Science on how to do decent stencils - I put down black underglaze in the first step, but unfortunately the adhesive on the back of the stencil pulled it up in undesirable ways. LEARNINGS!!

I’m definitely coming to the conclusion that underglaze and adhesive stencils don’t play well together. I still need to try underglaze on greenware and see how that works with using a stencil after bisque firing.

A photograph of the inside of a ceramic bowl, glazed in white with a stenciled monarch butterfly in the center. There’s are several places on the butterfly where the black line work is broken up - this is where the adhesive stencil pulled the powdery underglaze off the bowl. Aside from that, though, this turned out better than I expected! There’s some bits where the glaze pooled a little too aggressively and got a bit hazy and fuzzed some of the line work, but most of the demarcations between colors are pretty sharp.
A picture of the side of the bowl. There’s a few spots where there are small pinprick bubbles in the glaze, and an odd dark grey streak that looks almost like a pencil line at the top edge. I need to ask my teacher what that’s all about (or maybe one of you kind mastodonians know?)

Sleepy Monster in a Teacup
Humans aren't the only ones who enjoy a spot of tea now and again. Little monsters have been know to slip quietly into kitchens when no one is around and sneak a sip of two of freshly brewed sweetness. Alas, some of these tiny creatures may become so enamored with the tea, that they sip themselves silly and fall into a state of euphoria, causing all manner of behavior.
