Re-reading Krabat, must have first read aged 13 or 14. Suspenseful stuff about black magic, set in early 19th century East Germany. Not sure if/how popular in English-speaking countries.

"The Trump administration’s decision to order the banning of certain books from the U.S. Naval Academy’s library is a case study in ideological censorship, alumni and academics say."
"The purge at the library is extremely rare and possibly unprecedented at an institute of higher education, said Philomena Polefrone of American Booksellers for Free Expression, a group representing independent booksellers."

It has been hard to concentrate on reading lately, then writing a review once I've finished, which for this book was two days ago. I highly recommend Nghi Vo's new novella, as well as the novel that preceded it. Both are superior to the book they are based on.
The most Be Ungovernable anarchosyndicalist passage of any fiction Ive read:
"We have heard enough, however. Later, when we process all of this, I will tell the others, 'she wants to be a person'.
'She wants the impossible', Dushwha will say. 'Gallat thinks it better to own her himself, rather than [the government] do the same. But for her to be a person, she must stop being ownable. By anyone.'
'Then [the government] must stop being so,' Gaewha will add sadly.
Yes, they will all be right...but that does not mean Kelenli's desire to be free is wrong.
Or that something is impossible just because it is very, very hard."

#ScribesAndMakers Apr 12 Shameless self-promotion day. Show what you're proud of. Let's boost away!
The promotional items for the fictional band ‘Everlasting Roaring Thunder’ from my novel series of the same name are ready.
You can buy the first part of the coming of age novel in German as an eBook here: https://ebook.everlastingroaringthunder.de
The second part will be published this year.
Even if I'm going out on a limb here: I'm planning a translation into English and a print version.
If you are into audiobooks, and want to be uplifted during this season, please check out my book "The Words of My Father".
Taking some time with #CarelessPeople and it's great and horrifying but also needs a CW for extreme medical trauma with lots of blood loss and intubation. I don't usually have a problem with this but I'm a little faint after chapter 32!

**Bookbinding Journey**
Finally, all the material that I need to begin my #bookbinding journey and #bindery have arrived. I will be teaching myself through a process of trial and error, and would appreciate any advice from the Fediverse /Mastodon along the way. I will begin with rudimentary steps, but hope to end with being able to produce exquisitely bound #leather #books.
The other #NewBook at the library this week was The Princeton Field Guide to Predatory #Dinosaurs. So, before I get to King Tyrant, first I shall compare and contrast the last two books from Greg Paul. Reviews coming soon to https://inquisitivebiologist.com

NO EXISTE
Escúchame: no. Es fantasía.

Book 15 - Things We Lost In The Fire by Mariana Enriquez
A short story horror collection that's able to get under your skin. A number could have been expanded upon a little bit more. The blend of horror, politics and human stories work perfectly.
3.5/5 (could be upgraded to a 4).
The idea of a Latin American space mission is very much on my mind at the moment, so I was thrilled to find this list of Latin American SFF I can work my way through
It’s a couple of years old, though, so I am sure there’s new stuff that could be added.
