Last night's #CERN #Games Club event for the #RPG curious was a great success!
We had seven tables running various games including #DnD, #BladesInTheDark, #BladeRunner and #IntoTheOdd. Three of the GMs were from #SwissRPG. I didn't count exactly but I think we had about 50 participants, with around 25% coming from outside CERN.
I ran the #DCC #funnel "Underneath the Well of Brass". 8 players, 2 characters each, mortality rate was about 50%.

When artists imagine the future these days, it looks bleak and dark — and actually, fair enough. But for Boomers, it was colorful, shiny, and sometimes sexy — and that's at least partly down to the late Syd Mead, the concept artist who worked on "Star Trek: The Motion Picture," "Tron" and "Blade Runner," and also depicted futuristic vehicles and alien vistas, imbued with optimism rather than evil. Good overview of Torment Nexus concept. In the end, sci-fi doesn’t teach people to be evil. It simply amplifies today’s evil with tomorrow’s technology.

I started #nobodywantstodie on my #PS5 last night & can tell this is fitting into some very specific tastes for me. It's set a few hundred years in the future, in a VERY #cyberpunk New York, but with a glaring 1930-40s vibe. It feels part #bladerunner, part old-timey detective movie, part bioshock even (with style and how first person is handled). It oozes visual flair, focuses on neat tools to do detective clue finding & thus far I'm absolutely in love with it!

This thing is impossible to photograph because of how reflective the glass is but it looks amazing in person. The color e-ink really looks so cool / very different from a grid of backlit pixels. Wish I could capture it better!

I'm struggling my way through season 4 of #WestWorld which is a real cut-rate version of #TheMatrix, on a par with season 3 which was their cut-rate version of #BladeRunner. And I'm wondering why they bothered ripping off other, better films after making a really good job of actual WestWorld in season 1 & a passable attempt at #Memento in season 2. 
Lack of confidence in their own abilities or the original material/concept? Distractibility? Did they lose the rights to everything but the name?
