Zhenghe Red from White2Tea is a Fujian tea. It is a black tea made from a varietal usually used for Fujian white tea, "Zhenghe Dabai". Darker herbaceous and fruit flavors, more raisins than stonefruit.

Random bits of color,
Swatch, spot, and streak,
In cloth, rock, and seaglass;
It's rainbows I seek.

Tea tableau focused on splotches of color. The tea cozy is a fabric that looks like strokes of pastel paint; a large smooth rock is painted with a continuous cacophony of bright splashes of color; on the mat are scattered a handful of seaglass shards in a variety of colors. There is also vintage china and Cherry black loose-leaf tea.

In the last few months, I have felt #overwhelmed, #overworked, #anxious, behind and planless. But, couple of days ago I stopped drinking big mugs of #blacktea daily. I think I am doing better. More sleepy during the day, sure. Bursty work efficiency, deep work and flow, but that's as usual. Quick googling suggests there isn't a link between #caffeine and #anxiety though, so may be #confirmationbias. #astrodon #postdoclife #publishandperish

You'll see what you see, but perhaps you'll recognize my scallop/butterfly, fish/birds, baby seal, jellyfish, sea snail, turtle, corals....

There is a boldly platinum- striped demitasse set, and a ceramic tray shaped like a slice of white bread, upon which are a trio of elephants with trunks raised in unison opposite a pewter elephant balancing a rainbow crystal ball on its snout, about to toss it to a circus poodle while a tiny terrier looks on.

The fruits of summer are ripening. My wild strawberries, warm from the sun, bursting with sweetness; the blackberries forming, salmonberries blonding, thimbleberries broadening, blueberries getting heavy on their branches....

In California, the Farmer's Market happens year-round. Farther north, it's seasonal, and right now, that season is ramping up. I like the heightened excitement of something that's not available all the time.

The gorgeous Fenton carnival glass bunny was someone's discard because its upright ear got sheared off in a fall. I used a glass file to smooth the razor- sharp edge, and don't mind at all that it only has one ear remaining.

The enameled bird was a gift from a friend. The Portmeirion mug was a gift from a different friend. I love that they blend nicely in a teableau even though those particular people haven't met each other. Unconscious cooperation.
