Adolph Saphir was a Jewish Presbyterian missionary. Here he writes on Christ and the church and lists several truths. They are that we are the children of Adam, that all human beings are equal, created in the image of God, forming one family, which is called to light and holiness and blessedness. He says this truth is confirmed and illuminated by the Lord Jesus Christ.

How can we act as if one family?

Studying Scripture deepens our faith and strengthens our walk with God. Every word in the Bible holds wisdom, guidance, and truth that applies to our daily lives.

Prophecy reminds us of God’s sovereignty and the fulfillment of His promises. As we see His Word unfolding, we should remain watchful, prayerful, and steadfast in our faith.

Stay encouraged—God’s Word never fails! Let’s commit to studying, applying, and living by His truth daily. 📖🙏

One funny thing I just realized about the parable of Lazarus and the Rich Man ... the rich guy isn't even named! On top of the torment of hell, this important person on earth is a nobody in the afterlife.

It got me thinking about how we think about our own worth. Many times we tie our sense of worth to our economic value—how much an employer will compensate us for our time. Remember Lazarus and the rich man!

To other #Christians, especially those who are #blind, are there any #accessible #Bible study tools or resources you'd recommend? One of my first assignments for #college at #ColoradoChristianUniversity is about fears relating to college, and I have to find Bible verses on fear. I've tried a few different websites like #BibleGateway and Youversion, but I'm having a hard time with the search functionality or there are #accessibility issues, so I'm wondering what tools others use.

Thoughts on the period of the Judges ...

I was reading 1 Samuel where the people of Israel are asking for a king. God said this was a bad thing, and Samuel himself warns the people of all the things that a king will do (conscript laborers, levy taxes, etc).

But was the period of the Judges really that great? I'm always a little hesitant to read that book because of the shocking nature of what you find there. The person compiling these histories understands this, and three times repeats, "In those days Israel had no king, and everyone did as they saw fit."

I understand that Israel was meant to be a theocracy with the Law of Moses as its constitution. But it seems that wasn't really working out for them.

The one bright spot from the period of the Judges is the story of Ruth and Boaz. Boaz was a righteous man who followed the Torah instructions to allow poor people to glean in his fields. He showed compassion on widows and foreigners (Ruth was both!). I love that this story was passed down and put into the nation's history.

"Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy."
~ Ezekiel 16:49

This is a really interesting verse in the OT that surprises a lot of Christians today. God is speaking through the prophet to the people of Jerusalem. They (and ourselves today) all know the story about Sodom in the Book of Genesis, how it was destroyed by fire and brimstone due to its wickedness. What's the surprising is that the sin is not Sodom's namesake sin, "sodomy." Rather, it's a refusal to help others in need when you have an abundance.

Really turns the tables on a lot of us, huh? How often are we arrogant, overfed, and unconcerned?
