Finished #audiobook The Fourth Consort by Edward Ashton, author of Mickey7. This is fun #scifi. I really enjoy this author. He's kind of in the same groove as Michael Mammay (military scifi author). Good stuff, recommend. #bookstodon

Finished #audiobook We Lived on the Horizon by Erica Swyler. This is the kind of book that I, a hard #scifi fan, think of as "soft" scifi. It plods steadily through an exploration of deep thoughts and concepts and feelings about humanity in a walled city where an elite class called the Sainted lives large off the legacy of its ancestors, who gave their lives in building the city after some cataclysm. The rest of the population are an underclass including "body martyrs" who donate organs to Saints to extend their lives. But the underclass has become resentful and the massive computer that oversees the city is developing problems and needs to edit its code, which will shut it down for a long time. So a likely violent revolution is coming. Well written, if not my cup of tea. #bookstodon

I finished my first #audiobook yesterday, The Autobiography of Kathryn Janeway: it's great that they secured Kate Mulgrew as the narrator, she did a pretty good job!

Now starting We Are Legion (We Are Bob). One hour in, I like it a lot!

I didn't think I'd be one to enjoy audiobooks, but I only had to rewind a couple of times per book. I cannot really listen to them while focusing on task, but they are great when walking around town or doing chores.

Finished #audiobook Origins by Neil deGrasse Tyson and Donald Goldsmith. I hoped for better. Quite a poor narrator and a fairly dull history of cosmological discoveries from the past to 2022, with some attempts at humor sprinkled here and there that fall flat. If you've read other cosmological #nonfiction #science #books you've probably read better. I certainly have. #bookstodon
