AllanICarswellObservatorySpiral galaxy NGC 7331, also known as the Caldwell 30, is pretty similar to our Milky Way in terms of mass, size and shape. Located in the constellation Pegasus, Caldwell 30 is about 45 million lightyears away from us. The galaxy got the nickname Caldwell 30 because it is a member of the group of 86 objects catalogued by astronomer Sir Patrick Moore. He named the objects the Caldwell Objects because his full surname is actually Caldwell-Moore.<br> <br> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/Caldwell?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Caldwell</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/NGC7331?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#NGC7331</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/Caldwell30?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Caldwell30</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/Spiral?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Spiral</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/Galaxy?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Galaxy</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/AllanICarswellObservatory?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#AllanICarswellObservatory</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/YorkU?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#YorkU</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/Toronto?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Toronto</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/Ontario?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Ontario</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/Astronomy?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Astronomy</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/Astronomer?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Astronomer</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/Science?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Science</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/Astrophotography?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Astrophotography</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/SpaceScienceSaturday?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#SpaceScienceSaturday</a>

MalloryNGC 2685, a.k.a., the Helix Galaxy<br> <br> I was so annoyed with my first go at processing this one that I spent basically an entire day sorting through all of the subframes and tossing out all of the bad ones. Turns out there was a lot of them, which contributed to the low quality of the end result. This time turned out better, but I think the raw data just isn't good enough to get the image I want. I'm definitely going to try this one again in the future.<br> <br> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/astronomy?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#astronomy</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/astrophotography?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#astrophotography</a>

Happening high in Parisian skies, the partial eclipse was close to its maximum phase of about 23 percent. Occurring near the end of the first eclipse season of 2025, this partial solar eclipse followed the total eclipse of the Full Moon on March 13/14. The upcoming second eclipse season of 2025 will see a total lunar eclipse on September 7/8 and partial solar eclipse on September 21.
