David OwenWhen Frederick Douglass wrote that what was needed in the face of racism was 'scorching irony' rather than 'convincing arguments', he was drawing attention to the point that although argument may elicit aspect-change, it is often the rhetorical form of the argument that is doing the work & it is not the only and often not the best way of bringing about aspect-change.
