Va-va-voom! Mum was ready and waiting, so now heading back to Seil. The clouds are lifting, so maybe we'll see the landscape on the way!
I lived on #Arran for many years; this piece from @alisonphipps brought up many memories.
It also brought up many hopes; and many fears...
"Arran's rocks tell stories I can't help but relate to the issues I'm fleeing from"

Cracking day out on the Witches Step on #Arran with the awesome Sheila.
Happy summer solstice to those who celebrate
.
‘This badly mutilated mound is a robbed cairn with the remains of a conspicuous kerb’ HES …. at 23m diameter Machrie Moor 10 on #Arran must once have been remarkably imposing #TombTuesday

For interest, I was fascinated to see this story about the origin of Attenborough's film Ocean. And it really is a good film.
Worth a read (the article) and watch (film).

Lichen is scattered like blossoms on a stone that forms part of the Moss Farm Road Stone Circle – the remains of a Bronze Age cairn, surrounded by a kerb of stones.

Only one remains standing of what was once a circle of nine stones at Machrie Moor 3 on #Arran … only one, but what a stunner. #StandingStoneSunday

#FridayFold An old picture of a limpet enjoying some beautiful folded greenschist-facies pelite in a rock pool near Thundergay, on the west coast of Arran. The pale bands are rich in fine-grained muscovite; the dark bands also have chlorite. The few rusty spots mark the position of pyrite crystals.
The seafront at Brodick on the Isle of Arran, seen from the Ardrossan ferry. Arran is often described as a "Scotland in miniature" and though it's not the largest village, Brodick is the main focus for visitors to the island. Taking a break. Arran - pretty good weather for a January ride - even a trike could not lift the haar.
When you visit your Mum to reassure her everything's fine and the emergency services set up a mobile base in the front garden...
(A capsized kayak just offshore had been reported by neighbours; this meant a full-blown search was implemented. The kayak was recovered, no one is missing; so all's well that ends well!)
(Also: good to catch up with old friends.)
Stunning, awe inspiring, ancient beauty; back visiting Machrie Moor 2 on #Arran this week … #StandingStoneSunday

More than meets the eye? The very enigmatic Kilpatrick Dun, on high ground south of Blackwaterfoot near the Isle of Arran's west coast. What you see are the remains of a fortified farmstead that was built here some 1,800 years ago. More pics and info: https://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/arran/kilpatrickdun/index.html
