CBCResearch project at Churchill facility raises alarm about potential impact of oil spill in Arctic waters | CBC NewsA natural remedy that has previously helped counter oil spills will be too slow to "do any useful work" if there's a spill in the Canadian Arctic, increasing chances of "catastrophic" harm, researchers say.

Sea surface temperatures (ºC) for the week ending July 10 were near to above the 1991-2020 baseline in most of the non-sea ice impacted areas around Alaska, with the exception of the southeast Bering Sea. Slower than typical sea ice melt in the Chukchi and Beaufort Seas shows up as below average SSTs. Data courtesy NOAA/PSL/ESRL. @ZLabe @Climatologist49

We finished the cabin at Sinaasiurvik, Sirmilik National Park in half the time. And flew out a week early. Myself and one of the bear monitors were the last to leave. Just after the second last flight left the weather went down, low ceiling, wind, rain and fog. We thought we would be stuck there for a while. But it cleared enough for it to come and get us. #Nunavut #Arctic #ParksCanada.
