i did the update, just followed the instructions, no errors or bad stuff.

i have seen rumblings on reddit of another issue that might be bleeding through. people with newer amd gpus might want to investigate before doin a syu.

New Linux users ignore this superpower: pass (terminal password manager)
Why use a GUI manager when pass does it all in your terminal?
GPG-encrypted, fast, and scriptable.
$ pass init "your-gpg-id"
$ pass insert email/gmail
Sync with Git, keep it simple and secure. Stop saving passwords in your browser.

sooo my first time having to do manual intervention. been using arch/endeavour for a long time surprised it hasn't happened sooner.

not sure when exactly i enter the commands, before the update? if i'm removing the firmware, what happens to my system between removing it, and reinstalling it? haha

if nobody feels like doing tech support don't worry i'm on btrfs, i'll figure it out. and if i don't i've got other distros to install.

#Archlinux upgrade requires manual intervention and please execute both (!) pacman commands very carefully. When I go to the start page, they are displayed in one line. If you just copy & paste, the second command (installation of the firmware packages) will not be executed and you will most likely end up with a system that no longer boots. 👇

#ArchLinux users: please be aware that because of a modification on the “linux-firmware” package, we’ll have to uninstall it first before reinstalling it during the global update process:

To do:

# pacman -Rdd linux-firmware
# pacman -Syu linux-firmware

I'm trying to use a "beginners" Linux distribution now. Apparently I'm not able to use sway on an Arch Linux properly.

After >10 years on Slackware and dunno how many years on OpenBSD (both using i3) I'm fairly capable with the all things and debugging. But whatever is happening with modern distribution is just beyond me.

People are telling me its getting better but how does anyone fix anything if something goes wrong?

People say you can tell a lot about a person from their wallpaper choices on their phones and desktops

For people using Linux, BSD, etc., the way you rice your desktop tells a lot about how particular you are with your preferences, how concerned you are with the details of what you see from the screen of your very own personal computer.

I can only wonder what this reflects of me. This has been my desktop ever since I started using i3wm back in August 2023 lol

I am using one tool implemented in Haskell. Cost: my #ArchLinux updates about 100 #Haskell packages every 2 days on average. Seriously? I am starting to think that even though I am a #functional programmer, programming in Haskell would not be for me - and not for the ferocious purity and laziness, but for the stability of the environment!

Disclaimer: I know nothing about the Haskell ecosystem. It may well be that these updates are just as innocuous as they are irritating.
