HP Compaq 6005 Pro Microtower (Product-Nr. VN798ET) von 2010

Anfangs mit #Windows7 Pro in Betrieb genommen, nach #EndOfLife auf #Windows10 aktualisiert, im Oktober diesen Jahres würde das Gerät einen endgültigen #Windows :windows: Tod sterben, da es nicht mehr auf #Windows11 aktualisiert werden kann.

Herausforderung: Es ist ein 32bit PC und dann wird es selbst mit #Linux :tux: etwas herausfordernd.

Aber gefunden habe ich Linux Mint 6
Cinnamon Edition bzw. LMDE (Linux Mint Debian Edition). Und ich muss sagen: Es läuft :mastowink:

Dieser Artikel ist sicherlich schon anderthalb Jahre alt - zu erkennen daran, dass #Windows7 und 8.1 erwähnt werden - für #Windows10 und 11 aber sicherlich noch gültig.
Ansonsten: Desinfec't von heise nutzen 😉

I found this 2011 Toshiba mini-notebook kicking around at work a few years ago. Its got a 10" screen, 1GHZ CPU, 1.5GB ram and ran terribly with included #windows7. I flashed it with #q4os (a #debian based distro) at the time and got it behaving half way decently in no time. Found it again today, gave it an update and toyed with it a bit. A neat little system overall. A bit small for my general use. #mac #keyboard for scale. Check out the speakers though. Interesting feature.

@ajsadauskas @JessTheUnstill @tomiahonen @fuchsiii obviously, that would've been a good standard for everyone, given that almost all non-#Gaming #Apps these days are #WebApps and at that point we'd not have 100+ MB #bloatware that essentially just loads a #Website and can't even cache shit!

Personally I believe the @europarl_en & @EUCommission could do that and establish as well as enforce an #EC #norm, just as they did with #USBc, #CCS2 and #GDPR!

#Android needs to be better as in being more than just the "lesser evil" compared to iOS!

@256 I legitimately tried this on #Windows7, half the screen but with auto-hide enabled. It was an interesting concept, actually. Put a bunch of widgets and stuff in there and it's almost just like a different UI paradigm.
