I'm quietly trying to #CreateEveryDayInMay by exploring stripes or striations. I'm reminded of the rock cuts in Ontario's smaller highways, as we kids were dragged along on our parents' rockhounding expeditions. But really: textures? layers? I'm in!

1/3 of the body finished. It's getting a bit boring to knit, although it really looks beautiful.

Fingering weight yarn, so it takes forever. I also think it might be too big... although that might be nice, and I can easily make it smaller by adding a side seam at the end.

So, on we go.

I've been a bit quiet here. I'm dealing with some complex health issues (which funny enough actually give me hope that I've identified the cause!), but I'm still working on the commissions I have underway. So here's a pic of the Monotropa flowers WIP. As you can see, the flower buds are still missing. I still need to solder them first!

A very early UI draft: experimenting with Venn diagrams to explore how countries are discussed in relation to each other across Zeit and the New York Times. Basically, I am showing how many articles are tagged using the names of both countries and how many other meta-keywords they have in common across 1 year of news coverage from the two newspapers. #wipwednesday

Got some progress going on. Squirtle's head is attached and I've got the back of the shell put together as well. The embroidery isn't perfect but I think I did an okay job and the best part...the legs and arms get to hide a little of the imperfections of the chest embroidery!

Added the potential colors and a bit of detailing to my future bag charm collection! I find them really cute and am excited to have to time to make them! They'll be a fun new product for Summer!

Another Emotional Support Chicken!

Using scrap yarn, this is 1st one I've made of wool (v. acrylic). I must say it's a much more pleasant knitting experience - 2 strands fingering held together on US2 needles, so very tight, but wool gives some spring.

Still, my upper arms and shoulders hurt! It's OK, I'm knitting off anxiety, and it's a workout my muscles need.

More work on the last two Hounds of Morkai. Pushed the highlights and tried a “hobby hack” I found online for getting better yellows by basing with pink, but I’m not sure I am sold on this method, it still feels like the pink is poking through the yellow.
