A fantastic, mainly canals and gravel, ride today with my club, Dukinfield CC. We rode the canal to Hollingworth Lake then the rocky trails east of there back to Denshaw. Then some road before picking up the canal again in Uppermill which took me, more or less, all the way home. Superb ride out. Back on the bike after nearly 5 weeks in Spain (no bikey there, unfortunately). Had to nip to North Road Cycles, in Sale Moor. Blimey, I really did feel being out of the saddle for several weeks during the last 10km home! I took in part of the Trans Pennine Trail (TPT) on the return journey, too. Got 75km and >1000m done with two mates out to Scammonden dam then a lovely tailwind home. I've done this ride a few times now and always see the same pig but this time he was with some sheep mates and not on his Jack Jones. I met up with the #DukinfieldCC guys first thing but left them after a few miles as I had to head for home. I needed to sort the loft out as we're getting the roof done so I have to make space! This picture is on Middlewood Road, near #HazelGrove. The very busy A6 is in stone throwing distance but you can't hear it from this spot. A quality solo ride into #Cheshire yesterday while everyone else was watching the #TourOfBritain. A quick coffee at The Wizard Tea Rooms after going up Artists Lane before the home stretch. 75km in glorious sunshine (remember that?) and happy in the knowledge it's pissing down at my Mum's in #Chipiona. They need it! Lovely to spend time with Peadar the #Pinarello, too. I've had this bike for over 20 years and I've no idea how old it actually is as I got it second hand from a proper racer!

A heady couple of hours on Osgar earlier. Lots of climbing but we both enjoy it. Some friends (not food) and #HartsheadPike from the top of Mossley Road, looking down on #Greenfield and #Uppermill from Ladcastle Road, the top of Grains Road and looking down on Town from Top O' Th' Meadows. Lovely stuff. And all this was after I'd been chatting with the #vegan protesters outside Pilgrims in A-U-L. Power to the plant eaters!

Yesterday was my club's annual Paper Chase. It was the first time for nearly 2 years that I'd ridden over 100km! The Paper Chase, if you're unaware, is the hare laying blobs of paint at junctions and the hounds (3 teams of 2) setting off 10 minutes behind the hare, trying to work out which direction to go from each junction. All good fun and lots of tracks and trails thrown in, too, some new to me. My team finished second,no prizes, but nice beans on toast at the cafe then a lovely ride home over the Cheshire lanes. #biketooter #cycling #PaperChase #VeganCyclist #biketoot
