In my continued war on Tobacco Hornworms I’ve found success using UV light to detect much smaller under 1 inch worms just starting to feast but more importantly single eggs mostly spotted on the underside of leaves. Today I learned something about UV light, after 20 years of using biosafety cabinets level 2...
UV light, only when the cabinet window is closed, is used whenever we want to be sure that the following experiment won't be contaminated.

However, some major authorities *advise against it*, mainly because of the risk of irradiating the user and because it is no substitute for proper cleaning (which I knew). Indeed, when it's dirty, microbes are shielded from decontamination.
