Continued thread

Irrelevant fact about me: Penang is probably the closest thing I have to a kampung (hometown).

My dad came from a very small kampung in
#BatuPahat, #Johor, but that place means nothing to me since no one's there and the kampung house has long been abandoned and broken down. The only couple of times I've been there as a kid were to just visit some graves of family members that were there.

My mom and her family migrated from
#Indonesia here when she was 8 or 9 (#Malaysia needed #Malay speaking teachers at the time) so no kampung to be had there apart from where they stayed when I was born which is just also where I lived, in the #Kepong area.

As a result, by default, my family would just have a short holiday in Penang almost every year (at least before the pandemic) because that's where my parents had met (as
#USM graduates) and spent a portion of their working life in before moving to #KL. Whenever I do get married though, my kampung would likely default to my partner's which is in #Kedah, and I likely would die from culture shock having to drive that far in heavy traffic during festive seasons.
