For #TuneTuesday, I want to share a tune of my own for your consideration. It's a #FreePalestine protest song. You can download it (along the rest of my music) for free, or name your price. And it's licensed in the Creative Commons, so sample away if you like. :)

My take on this week’s #TuneTuesday #180degrees is a song that lulls you into a false sense of security for the first quarter with soft vocals and gently tinkling guitars, before it all abruptly kicks off.

The song is Soma by the #smashingpumpkins. I’ve never really studied the lyrics, just wailed along with melancholy angst as Billy cries ‘I’m all by myself….as I’ve always felt’.

I don’t even know what a Soma is. Googling now.

#TuneTuesday today and some lunatic (me) wanted songs that make sudden u-turns during the song. So, let's some of my picks out of the door with the theme #180degrees!

👥 Muse
💿 Dead Star / In Your World (EP)
🎶 Can't Take My Eyes Off You

This cover starts quite like the original, swinging, but suddenly someone pours a pint of riffs on the song and it becomes frantic.

#TuneTuesday #180degrees
The turn happens quite early in the song.

It brings funny memories of that day at a college party when someone that didn't know me or the song well, got me out for dancing. I am hopeless for any type of couple dancing, but I accepted the invitation as -unlike what the start of the song suggest- I knew that the song would quickly turn around. The surprise face of my dancing partner was priceless as the dance floor quickly morphed into skank.

[Edit: As I listen, it's not just going from speaking to music; there's the organ during the "eulogy." So there's a sharp musical shift there.]

#TuneTuesday theme is #180degrees: songs taking a surprising turn.

Maybe this "turn" doesn't quite count, going from speaking to music. But there's also a perspective shift. Plus, this song rocks so hard.

I've heard it many times, but reading the lyrics, I'm struck (again) by the poignancy of Prince talking about the afterlife (wasn't he found in the elevator?) and saying, don't ask how much time you have...

"Dearly beloved
We are gathered here today
To get through this thing called life

Electric word, life
It means forever and that's a mighty long time
But I'm here to tell you
There's something else
The afterworld

A world of never ending happiness
You can always see the sun, day or night

So when you call up that shrink in Beverly Hills
You know the one, Dr. Everything'll Be Alright
Instead of asking him how much of your time is left
Ask him how much of your mind, baby

'Cause in this life
Things are much harder than in the afterworld
In this life
You're on your own

And if the elevator tries to bring you down
Go crazy, punch a higher floor"

Perfect #TuneTuesday theme today to get a good progging:

#Queen - The Prophet's Song

which should maybe be heard together with the following track on the album, "Love Of My Life".

#Genesis - Supper's Ready

youtube.com/watch?v=QHo0kPkz9IQ

The latter does about ten 180 degree turns in one 20+ minutes epic track.

I linked to modern stereo remastered versions of both songs, because that also fits the theme in a different sense. Headphones recommended!

Happy #TuneTuesday! This week's theme is #180Degrees. Songs that make one or more U-turns.

#KPop loves a beat or style switch-up, and it was too hard to pick just one.

So ..

From #TomorrowXTogether, Eternally with it's 3 crazy beat/mood switches.

TXT - Eternally (Demon Hunters ver)

And from #NMIXX, because switch-ups are their superpower, Dice which rolls a bunch of vibes into one track like the best sort of whiplash.
