“ProPublica’s reporting revealed these cancelled contracts were delivering essential services … and exposed the cruel and dumb AI formulas DOGE bros used to cancel contracts,” Sen. Blumenthal said. “Veterans and all Americans deserve transparency.”

I think what is necessary is a #JobSearch site.that mandates #transparency re: #TechnologyStack and the actual terms & employer.

  • Why do #employers fear being forced into disclosing the actual terms of their cobtracts on offer?

It'll save both sides time (cuz then I can just avoid applying for a "#shitjob" that I'd not want to do anyway)!

  • Like before I wrote into my CV that "I don't do Windows!" I'd get up to 10 calls a day but 9 of them were for some #Microsoft #Windows garbage that I won't touch. Nowadays I get like 3-5 a day but at least 4 out of 5 read my CV and didn't just decide to offer me a position below my salary expectation and/or in a nieche that I don't serve!

"Thousands of documents are produced and handled by the EU institutions daily — yet only a portion of those end up in the public register of documents, due to a culture of secrecy rooted in the EU’s tradition of behind-closed-doors decision-making.

Transparency veterans such as Emilio de Capitani, an Italian former senior official in the European Parliament known for his work on transparency and civil liberties, are trying to tear down this model.

Access to documents is guaranteed in Article 42 of the EU’s Charter of Fundamental Rights and Article 15 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU). Regulation 1049/2001 was meant to operationalise and implement these constitutional provisions and increase the openness of the European policy-making machinery — but over time, this piece of legislation has been eroded by delays, loopholes and broad exemptions.

Legal battles in European courts and complaints to the European Ombudsman by rights groups, MEPs, academics, journalists, and ordinary citizens, have sought to ensure compliance with EU law.

And a familiar face in those EU courts is De Capitani, who tried to become the European Ombudsman last year. De Capitani has regularly challenged EU institutions that refused to provide or hindered access to documents."

Australia ranks last globally for real estate transparency, according to the Opacity in Real Estate Ownership (OREO) Index by Transparency International and the Anti-Corruption Data Collective. The country’s delayed implementation of anti-money laundering reforms and lack of ownership transparency have made its property market a haven for illicit funds. Despite these issues, the real estate industry continues to thrive unchecked.

MacroBusiness · Nothing stops Australia's real estate industryAustralia delayed implementing global anti-money laundering rules for nearly two decades. In March, the Anti-Corruption Data Collective (ACDC) and Transparency International released the inaugural Opacity in Real Estate Ownership (OREO) Index, which ranked Australia last in the world. The index ranked major developed nations on two key criteria: 1) the scope and accessibility of real
